Hi! I'm Effy Wild and I'm so glad you're here with me for this journey into self-reflection, fun, and mixed media shenanigans! In this eight week (plus!) e-course, we are going to delve into the art journal as a place where we can meet ourselves on the page week by week with new techniques, journaling prompts, and more.
This session of Book Of Days includes 8 brand new lessons (which are truly mini-workshops unto themselves) + 2 "From The Vault Lessons" + 2 live calls + a brand new sketchbook preparation tutorial including decorating the cover and how I prepare my pages.
This session is going to include a lot of work with selfies OR sourced images that you feel represent you, so if you feel comfortable working with your own image, that's wonderful, but if you don't feel comfortable with your own face, you will be invited to use other images (as sourced from Unsplash, Pixabay, magazines, etc.) that can stand in for you in your explorations. Either way is PERFECT.
Immediately upon sign up you'll have access to lesson "00" which includes pre-recorded instruction in creating your own art journal OR preparing a sketch book for use as a Book Of Days.
We will begin this session for realsies on Sunday, March 31st, 2024 with our first live Zoom call at 1 p.m. EDT. This live gathering will include an introduction to Book Of Days, a flip through one of my BODs, and a Q&A session. There will be a replay, and it will be uploaded to the classroom as soon as the files finish converting (so, that evening or first thing April 1st!).
You'll also find a brand new sketch book preparation lesson appearing on April 1st with a list of suggested supplies and other things you'll need to gather before we begin with the weekly lessons.
Once you're all signed up and we've done our orientation gathering and our sketchbook preparation, your first lesson will magically appear in the classroom on April 8th by 3 p.m. EDT and will include a "main" and an "mds". The "main" is the spread we start each week with and is usually done on the left hand facing page of a full 2 page spread. The "mds" or "multi-day spread" is usually done on the right hand facing page and includes 4 - 7 days worth of visual journaling. MORE ON THIS DURING OUR FIRST LIVE CALL!

Each week will include the use of a selfie or other image that represents you in the moment you find yourself and I will be teaching you different techniques that will help you get yourself into your journal, such as graphite transfers, blind contour drawing, collage, paint overs, and more. Each lesson will also include a full-colour PDF with my musings on the week, supplies and substitutions, and journaling prompts to get your reflecting and introspecting.
The "From The Vault" Lessons are previously recorded BOD lessons plucked from my TEN YEARS of journaling this way. These will be offered during our "integration weeks". Integration weeks are meant to give you time to settle into your own practice or take a little breather. You can completely ignore these lessons if you wish OR you can dive into them, which would give you TEN weeks of journaling instead of eight!
Once our time together draws to a close, we will have a party live on Zoom to show off our glorious bodies of work.
We also have a Facebook Group where you can share your spreads and connect with one another. Membership in this group is optional, but it comes with lifetime access so as you continue to "BOD" after this session ends, you'll have a place to share and connect.
