More About This Workshop

As someone who started her creative practice from a spiritual perspective, the elements of air, fire, water, and earth are energies Effy has engaged with in her art journal for over a decade. Most of the spreads she creates in her art journals include the elements in one way or another. Why? Because along with being powerful allies in her spiritual journey, they're also a part of a visual language that allows her to fully express herself on the page.

Effy Says:

"The elements are a massive part of my creative practice because they are a kind of shorthand that I can use to represent what's alive in me in the moment. Fire and all the symbols and colours associated with it can represent our passion, our will, our anger, our desire. Air and all the symbols and colours associated with it can represent our minds, our anxieties, our intentions, and new beginnings. Earth can represent our bodies, our resources, our habits, instincts, and even our ancestry. Water can represent our emotions, our hearts, our dreams, and our intuition.

Once you understand what mediums, colours, symbols, and even techniques can be engaged to call in these elements, your spreads will become imbued with mystery and meaning."

During the third in this four-part series we engaged with the element of water on the weekend of the Autumnal Equinox and explored all of the ways we can call in the qualities of this element into our work.
