Here's everything you need to know about this Winter Solstice Painting Party
Hello, and welcome! Here's everything you need to know about our gathering!
On Saturday, December 21st at 1 p.m. EST we will gather live on Zoom for an afternoon of reflection, meditation, journaling, and painting in celebration of the Winter Solstice! Join your guide-ess, Effy Wild, as we release 2024 and all that came with it in a way that allows us to carry forward what best serves us into 2025!
We will be painting a version of this during our gathering but you are welcome to go rogue and do your own thing!
If you're painting along, gather up the following:
*The "mystic deer" template (provided) printed on plain office paper
*Graphite transfer paper OR Stabilo All Pencil
*Black gesso (or black fluid or other acrylic if that's what you have)
*Turquoise Pthalo fluid acrylic (or any deep blue you like)
*Titanium white fluid acrylic (or any opaque white paint you like)
*Black and white paint pens (I like Uniposca, but use what you have)
*Iridescent fine silver fluid acrylic (or any silver paint you like)
You can paint this in your art journal OR on watercolour paper or canvas!
Recommend size: No smaller than 8 x 10 inches, portrait orientation
A candle of any kind that you like
A journal and pen
We'll meet at 1 p.m. EST on the dot (You will be sent an email reminder with the link) to say hello to one another. Once we're settled in, we'll talk a little bit about Winter Solstice/Yule, how to get the most out of the energies that swirl around at this time of year, what we wish to let go of from 2024, and what we most want to carry forward into 2025. This should take no more than an hour.
We'll do a brief guided meditation (15 -20 mins, max) and then go on a half hour break so we can get ourselves settled and ready to paint. During the break, you'll be invited to jot down your thoughts about the meditation.
When we come back from break, we'll get into our painting session! During this time there will be a mix of instruction by me and conversation about the season, what came through for you during the meditation, and anything else that comes up!
Once the painting is done, we'll do a bit of a show and tell before we all wander off back into ordinary reality!
